On behalf of Transport Scotland, Scotland TranServ will resurface the A77 at Auchenblane, North of Kirkoswald over TWO phases.
A previous programme to resurface this carriageway was postponed due to unforeseen ground conditions. Under a two phase approach, Scotland TranServ will deliver carriageway improvements under seven overnight closures from Monday the 5th until Sunday the 11th of August. Final resurfacing will be completed under a weekend closure between Friday 16th and Monday 19th of August.
Dayle Gillespie, Scotland TranServ’s design lead on the project said:
“Following the discovery of challenging ground conditions, it was necessary for Scotland TranServ to carry out further testing of the area. Once results were identified it was necessary to develop a new resurfacing solution. The works will involve foundation strengthening and finally the resurfacing of approximately 0.6 km of existing carriageway.
“It was imperative that traffic management was kept in place in order that the site investigation could take place as well as protecting the exposed surface from trunk road traffic. We appreciate the patience that drivers have shown and we empathise with the public in relation to any delays during this time.”
In order to complete these works as quickly and safely as possible, Scotland TranServ will implement two phases of trunk road closures during the following times:
Each night between 8pm and 6am from Monday 5th until Sunday 11th of August 8pm on Friday 16th until 6am on Monday 19th of August
Special provisions will be made for emergency service vehicle access during this time, however no specialist arrangements will be made for windfarm traffic. Diversions will be in place throughout these closures.
Drivers, particularly those joining the ferry services at Cairnryan, are advised to allow plenty of extra time for their journey. Live trunk road updates will be available by visiting trafficscotland.org, or by following @trafficscotland on Twitter.
