As part of Transport Scotland’s strategic trunk road management programme, Scotland TranServ will resurface 2.3kilometres of the A77 Northbound between Spittalhill and the Bellfield Interchange.
In order to complete this £380k programme as quickly and safely as possible, it will be necessary to implement weekend road closures from 8pm on Friday 7th September to 6am on Monday 10thSeptember. A subsequent overnight closure will also be required on that Monday evening, from 8pm to 6am on Tuesday 11th to finish the works.
Lee Donnelly, Scotland TranServ’s Assistant Engineer said:
“In order to keep disruption to an absolute minimum for commuters and businesses using this route through the week, we have scheduled the works to take place over the weekend and at weekends when traffic flows are far reduced. The planning of this short programme has involved local authorities, emergency services and key stakeholders.
“Scotland TranServ is carrying out a number of such projects to improve the quality of the A77 trunk road surface, with a number of other such projects to follow. Where possible we are planning these works to have minimal impact of the travelling public.”
In order to carry out these works the project team will require to close the A77 Northbound between Spittalhill and Bellfield Interchange over the following times:
· 8pm Friday 7th September to 6am Monday 10th September
· 8pm Monday 10th September to 6am Tuesday 11th September
Local diversions will be in place throughout the works. Further information is available on the Scotland TranServ website. Drivers are asked to allow additional time for their journeys, and to either follow@trafficscotland on Twitter, or to visittrafficscotland.org before heading out.
This programme of improvements for the A77 is one of a number of such schemes being scheduled by Scotland TranServ to deliver long-term benefits to commuters, local communities and businesses across South West Scotland on behalf of Transport Scotland.
Andy Fraser, Scotland TranServ’s Operating Company Representative concluded:
“Across South West Scotland, we’re working on behalf of Transport Scotland to prioritise such road maintenance issues and deliver our road surface improvement projects as quickly, efficiently and safely as possible. This programme of work has therefore been scheduled to be delivered with maximum efficiency and minimal disruption.”
