Stagecoach West Scotland is delivering even more convenient bus travel for bus passengers across West Scotland with the addition of Apple Pay and Android Pay through the Stagecoach Bus smartphone app. The new payment methods will make it even easier for customers to buy their Stagecoach tickets through the app. The Stagecoach Bus app – which was launched last year and has been downloaded by hundreds of thousands of passengers – enables people to buy and download day and weekly bus tickets straight to their mobile phone. Payments via the app can also be made by PayPal or via debit or credit card. The app also provides customers with journey planning, next-stop information and live bus tracking to make their journeys even smoother. It is available free of charge for Apple and Android devices. The latest update to the app also includes a card scanner feature which customers can use when adding a new payment method at 'Secure checkout' using a debit/credit card. Customers can also use fingerprint recognition to confirm their password when making purchases within the Stagecoach Bus App. The addition of Apple Pay and Android Pay through the app complements the existing suite of payment options offered by Stagecoach which includes traditional cash payments and StagecoachSmart ticketing. Stagecoach West Scotland Managing Director, Tom Bridge said: “This latest development is another example of ways we are making travel easier and more convenient for our customers. We know our passengers want simple, quick transactions and reliable information about their services and we are investing heavily in the technology to deliver that.
“Our staff also work hard every single day to deliver high-quality, reliable services. However, we continue to face growing traffic congestion in West Scotland and our passengers urgently need those responsible for the road infrastructure to tackle this issue and help bus networks flourish.”
