Application Submitted for 40 New Flats for Ayr’s Harbourside is Rejected

A planning application for 40 new flats on Ayr's Harbourside was rejected by council planning chiefs.

Works could have started in 2020 to build 40 new flats if planning chiefs granted the application.

As part of a 25 year plan to transform the Ayr Harbourside area with home and leisure, getting these flats approved would have completed the overall vision.

Prior to the decision by SAC, Ayrshire Housing said:

“We have submitted a planning application for 40 flats on the town’s harbourside, If approved, this will complete the final part of a 25 year old masterplan to transform an area of redundant dockland and barracks for housing and leisure. The site itself was formerly an ice station for Ayr’s fishing fleet and is beside the quay to which the PS Waverley will hopefully return with her new boiler next year.

“It is also close to our ever popular flats on

.

“Designed by award winning architects Page\Park, the one and two bedroom flats will cater for range of housing needs. Subject to a successful funding bid to the Scottish Government, building work should start in the middle of 2020.”
