Ardrossan coastguard and police respond to person in water

EMERGENCY RESPONSE TO PERSON IN WATER IN ARDROSSAN

The Ardrossan Coastguard Rescue Team was called out shortly after 8pm yesterday (Sunday) to reports of a person in the water near to Montgomery Pier in Ardrossan.

The team responded immediately with RNLI Troon Lifeboat also being launched to proceed to Ardrossan.

Team members quickly assembled on station with one team member gearing up in full water rescue equipment ready for immediate deployment into the water once on scene.

As the team was leaving the station an update was received via CGOC Belfast Coastguard advising the person was now out of the water and in the care of officers from Police Scotland and the team could stand down.

With the person safely out of the water, the team has then stood down and returned to station to complete the necessary paperwork and pack away equipment prior to booking off duty and returning home.

The Ardrossan Coastguard Rescue Team is on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to respond to those in need.

Search and Rescue - it's what we do.

In a coastal, beach or cliff emergency dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
