Ardrossan Police appealing for witnesses after Wilful fire raising incidents

Police are continuing enquiries and appealing for information following a number of wilful fireraising incidents in Ardrossan in recent weeks.

A number of fires have been extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service in the area of Kilmahew Court and Glasgow Street, Ardrossan since Sunday 29th April 2018. These included a number of incidents where bins and an industrial skip have been set on fire. Following initial investigation the fires have been deemed wilful and a police investigation launched to identify those responsible.

Locality Policing Inspector for the area, Colin Convery, said "illegal firesetting presents a risk to life and property - luckily no people have been injured in these incidents.

"We are committed to working with our partners and communities to keep people safe. Local officers are conducting enquiries in the area including the review of all possible CCTV but I would appeal to anyone with any information on those involved or anyone who may have witnessed the incidents to please contact us."

Anyone with information on recent incidents is encouraged to contact Police Scotland by calling 101 and quoting incident reference 3185 of 29th April. To report a fire or other emergency always dial 999. Information can also be passed via the independent charity CrimeStoppers by calling 0800 555 111 where anonymity can be maintained.
