The unsafe building, which closed the Ayr High Street will require further assessment by South Ayrshire Council next week, say Police.
In a statement on Facebook, Ayrshire Police Division said:
"Until then the entire length of the High Street will remain closed to all traffic.
"Pedestrians can still use the High Street with the exception of an area that has been fenced off near to the Sandgate end of the street.
"The public, retailers and others who use the High Street area are thanked for their understanding and patience. The closure is necessary to ensure public safety."
