South Ayrshire residents have until Sunday 11 of February to have their say on the Council's budget saving proposals for 2018-2020.
So far, over 2,000 people have completed the survey as the Council looks to tackle a significant funding gap. Hundreds have also met the Council's budget team face to face at drop-in sessions across South Ayrshire. The public are being asked for their views on savings proposals which include new ways of working, increasing or introducing charges for some services, staffing restructures and service closures/reductions. Councillor Douglas Campbell, Leader of South Ayrshire Council, said: "It's really encouraging that people are engaging with the budget consultation process. "Residents in South Ayrshire know how serious our financial situation is and the drop-in sessions have left us in no doubt just how passionate people are about the Council services that matter to them. "The sessions have given us the opportunity to thank people for taking the time to voice their opinions and underline that no decisions have been made but that doing nothing is not an option. "We are heading toward the last week of the consultation and I would like to remind people to have their say. Please don't assume that your views have already been expressed through others, fill in the survey as your opinions matters." The Council has also received a number of signed representations from various groups on issues that matter to them. This feedback will be added to the survey responses enabling Councillors to make informed decisions when the budget is set on Thursday 1 March 2018.
