Charity partners South Ayrshire Council support Colour Dash 2018

The award-winning Ayrshire Hospice Colour Dash will be coming to South Ayrshire for the first time this year when it sets off around Rozelle Estate in Ayr on Sunday 9th September.

Kindly supported by South Ayrshire Council, the Colour Dash is now in its 4th year and is a great event for all the family where participants can walk, skip, hop or run around the route passing through rainbows of special colour stations dotted along the way!

Mary Drummond, Assistant Fundraising Manager, Ayrshire Hospice explains:

“We are delighted to bring Colour Dash to Ayr for 2018, particularly when South Ayrshire Council employees have nominated the Ayrshire Hospice as their chosen charity for 2018-19.  Over the last three years, thousands of people have taken part in our Colour Dash, having great fun and raising vital money for the hospice. We’re hopeful our new Ayr venue will encourage significant levels of support once again!”

Eileen Howat, South Ayrshire Council Chief Executive and a Business Ambassador for the Hospice, said:

“We’re very proud to be working with Ayrshire Hospice as our charity partner and supporting vital fundraising events like the Colour Dash. Not only is it a fantastic fun day out for all the family, it makes a massive difference in contributing towards the more than £20,000 a day the hospice needs to run its services. And while that’s a huge amount of money, it’s absolutely priceless to the people and families who benefit from the hospice’s care and support. So, put the date of Sunday 9 September in your diary, sign-up, come along, have a great time and – most of all – help the hospice make today matter.”

The Colour Dash is guaranteed to be the most colourful, fun 5k you’ll ever run! Prepare for a kaleidoscope of colour to rain down over you and your fellow runners every kilometre, leaving you looking like a rainbow.

There will be a variety of entertainment to get participants warmed up beforehand including the West FM roadshow with DJ Michael Smith and local band Vice Versa, then after it’s all over sit back and enjoy some more live entertainment with a well-deserved hot dog or burger!

Councillor Ian Cochrane, South Ayrshire Council’s Portfolio Holder for Sustainability and the Environment, added:

“Rozelle has hosted many fantastic events over the years and will provide the perfect setting for this year’s Colour Dash – the first time the Dash has been held in South Ayrshire. I’m looking forward to seeing hundreds of families taking part and bringing a big dose of colour and fun to Rozelle. And – after it’s over – why not stay around and check out the rest of our stunning estate, which includes the moving Remembrance Woodland and the fabulous Rozelle House Galleries and Maclaurin Art Gallery. Really make a day of it.”

Early bird registration is open until 27th August with adult entry costing £20, under 16s £10 and a family of four (2 adults, 2 under 16s) £50.  The hospice are hoping that each participant or family will raise a minimum sponsorship of £50, but will be extremely grateful for any amount raised.

There are currently six sponsored colour stations planned en route, thanks to the generous sponsorship of some of Ayrshire’s very supportive businesses including Tesco, Halls of Scotland, NATS, Booth Welsh and Rainbow Services. Thanks also go to supporting sponsors West FM, South Ayrshire Council, Arnold Clark, Tunnocks, and Healthy Working Lives for their significant backing and assistance.
