Depute South Ayrshire Provost, William Grant laid the first wreath on behalf of the people at the annual Ayr Burns Club Wreath Laying Ceremony in Ayr recently. Every year, Burns clubs from all over Ayrshire come together to commemorate the death of our national bard who died 21 July 1796 aged 37.

Depute Provost Grant said: “It was an honour to lay the first wreath and pay tribute to Robert Burns who’s poetry still inspires and entertains to this day. Burns is very much part of Ayrshire and visitors still flock here to follow in his footsteps.”
