People in Heathfield, Newton North, and Prestwick are being encouraged to show their support for local community groups by voting on their favourites.

The latest Prestwick decision day will be held on Saturday, 25 November at Heathfield Primary. The Prestwick and villages locality planning group event is part of a drive to get people actively involved in local decision making known as 'Participatory Budgeting'. Building on the success of recent community funding decision days, this latest marketplace event will see 18 groups display ideas for community projects to local people who are being invited to drop-in to vote to award funding. Up to £20,000 is available at the event and groups can be funded up to £1,000, with larger projects of up to £3,000 also being considered. Voting is open to anyone who lives, works, volunteers or studies Heathfield, Newton North, and Prestwick, aged 10+. Key themes for the funding include: reduce social isolation and loneliness; address transport issues and access to services; keep local people independent and well; and promote opportunities for young people. The money is being made available from South Ayrshire Council. Successful groups will be notified by Tuesday, 28 November. The 'Decision Day' event takes place at the Heathfield Primary on Saturday 25 November between 10am and 12noon.
