20 community groups from Ayr North and surrounding villages are overjoyed after securing new funding to support their work. 236 people turned out to take part in the latest decision day on Saturday 16 March.

Up to £18,000 was available, with groups funded up to £1,000. Voting was open to anyone who lives, works, volunteers or studies in Ayr North, Ayr North Harbour, Wallacetown, Newton South, Dalmilling, Craigie, Lochside, Braehead, Whitletts, Annbank, Mossblown and Tarbolton aged 10+.
Among the successful groups was Lochside Youth Group who plan to get active with a 2 day course at SportScotland's National Training Centre at Inverclyde.
Clean Up Tarbolton Woods will be using their funding of £939 to host a number of fun days to help people get back in touch with nature and promote health and wellbeing.
Braehead Primary School Sports Council will be using their funding to help get children healthy with £1,000 to be spent on promoting cycling and after school activities. While Broken Chains will use their funding of £1,000 to help vulnerable people in Ayr North.
Leader of South Ayrshire Council, Douglas Campbell said: "All our decision days have now taken place this time round with well over £70,000 donated to good causes and community projects across South Ayrshire.
"We have given groups and individuals a platform to help their communities and I would like to thank everyone who has taken part and the organisers for ensuring everything ran smoothly.
"We will continue to put our people and our places at the heart of decision making and link with partners to ensure our communities are the best places to live, work and visit."
The money was provided by South Ayrshire Council, South Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership and South Ayrshire Alcohol and Drug Partnership.
