Warning – don’t get caught by Council Tax scam!

We’ve had a number of reports of scammers cold calling and emailing residents – claiming to offer a Council Tax refund.

The companies are asking residents, either directly, or by an online link, to give their bank account details, credit/debit card number and the three number security code on the back of the card.

This is a scam.

If you receive a letter, call, or email offering you a Council Tax refund and you are asked to provide your bank account details, please ignore it, hang up and/or delete the email.

If someone contacts you offering a Council Tax refund and you’re not sure what to do, get in touch with our Council Tax office on 01563 554400.
