The highland games will include a pipe band and drum majors contest, highland dancing, heavy events, tug o’ war and side stalls and entertainment.
Our Games will open with a Street Procession at 12 noon which includes the Games Queen, Caitlin Croll, and her Attendants, Brooke Sutterfield and Emma Haddow.
This year will also see Joseph McQuiston, aged 8, lead the Street Procession as Junior Chieftain. As with previous years the highland games will be a truly international affair, with highland dancers flying in from as far afield as Houston, Texas! The organising committee also expect the pipebands to prove as popular as ever and we look forward to meeting them all.
This year in our Events arena we will be welcoming representatives from the Scottish Knights League who will be entertaining the crowds with a full contact medieval display, this is not to be missed!
The event will close in traditional fashion with a Massed Pipe Bands Parade through the village lead by 2018 Chieftain Kenny Easton.
Dundonald Games Society Chairperson, Louise McCartan, said, “We are looking forward to welcoming all our entrants and guests back to this year’s event, which we hope will be fantastic for both competitors and spectators alike. It will be a pleasure to welcome all our pipe bands and highland dancers, especially the internationals who travel from afar to be with us.” Dundonald Highland Games takes place on Saturday 11 August 2018 at Dundonald Castle, and will be attended by South Ayrshire Deputy Provost William Grant at 12 noon.
Entry is free and free car parking and shuttle bus is available all day from Olympic Business Park.
