Gaiety Theatre Set for First In-House Christmas Panto

Prepare for the climb of your life with The Gaiety’s star-studded pantomime for 2019: Jack and the Beanstalk.

The design for the show

Brand new writing duo Ken Alexander and Fraser Boyle have teamed up to create the first in-house pantomime since The Gaiety re-opened in 2012.

Gavin John Wright (River City) will be playing the loveable Jack Trott, Chris Forbes (Scot Squad) as Jacks Mother Dame Aggie Trott, Kirsty Malone (Sunshine On Leith) as the magical Fairy Bluebell, Karen Bartke (Scot Squad) as the Giants evil sidekick Sluggie Thurnderpants, David McGowan (Trust Me) as Sir Hector Laird of Auchinfleg, and Royal Conservatoire of Scotland graduate Jillian Cunningham as the beautiful Fair Fiona.

Focusing on local traditions, places and names, The Gaiety is creating a truly Ayrshire pantomime that will give local people a show they can call their own;

Ken Alexander said:

“We’re very keen that the panto is tailor-made for the theatre and the audience in Ayrshire as well. So it’s going to be set in Ayrshire, in a country village so there will be lots of local references – very topical, we hope!”

With headline sponsorship from The Coo Shed, based in Alloway’s beautiful South Corton Farm, The Gaiety have perfectly linked the pantomime’s dairy theme to a local Ayrshire business – even writing them into the script, truly tailoring to their audience.

With breath-taking sets, glittering costumes, electrifying choreography and a dairy full of cheesy comedy, there’s plenty to keep you amused this Christmas at The Gaiety.
