Global Market adds Food Court and entertainment to this year’s line up

Kilmarnock’s Global Market is set to return to King Street, and the Cross from Thursday 2 until Sunday 5 June – and this year it will feature a new Food Court at The Cross, with seating where shoppers can eat their purchases and enjoy live entertainment including comedy, music and singing.

To add to the international theme, Friday’s musical programme includes a session of Spanish guitar, while on Sunday there will be musicians performing with the sitar and the table, traditional Indian instruments.

Fiona Nicolson, Town Centre Manager and member of East Ayrshire Council’s Economic Development team says “The Global Market is hugely popular but we wanted to add a new dimension and as so many people like to catch up and chat with old friends when they’re visiting the market, we thought it would be good to create a space for people to sit and relax and enjoy their food and enjoy the entertainment. Events like this are always popular and are a good way to encourage people to enjoy the town centre as a place to relax and socialise.”

Market Place Manager, Matthew Hartwell is looking forward to returning to Kilmarnock for the sixth year in a row. He says “If you’re not sure about something, just ask our welcoming traders who will be happy to help.”

Running from 9.00 until 6.00pm Thursday to Sunday and from 10.00am until 4.00pm on Sunday, the ever popular market will see the return of some firm foodie favourites including:
