Irvine Car cruise event information from Police

CAR CRUISE EVENT - IRVINE

Police Scotland are aware of a car cruise event planned for the Irvine area of North Ayrshire this evening Sunday 29 July 2018.

Previous events have attracted over 1000 cars to the area and police are therefore advising members of the public that this may lead to some congestion and possible delays in the area.

Locality Policing Officers and colleagues from the Divisional Roads Policing Unit will be on duty in the area, with police vehicles also patrolling routes leading to and from the event. Drivers are asked to ensure that their vehicles are roadworthy and that all documents (licence, tax , insurance etc) are in order.

Inspector Jim McMillan said

“We understand that the majority of those attending such an event are not intent on breaking the law. Those who do choose to participate in antisocial behaviour, such as speeding, wheel-spinning or creating a disturbance will be dealt with by officers and could face prosecution or have their vehicle seized.

“At previous events of this kind, some drivers have driven their vehicles off-road onto grassed areas intended for pedestrians, and have performed dangerous driving manoeuvres in nearby car parks.

“Please keep your vehicle on the road and use the designated car parking areas - driving off-road will not be tolerated and can cause damage to the environment.

“If you are attending the event please enjoy it, share this post, act responsibly and encourage others not to spoil it for the majority”.

Anyone with any specific concerns is asked to speak with officers on patrol or to call their local policing team on 101.
