The Island of Cumbrae on the West Coast of Scotland will be hosting their 2nd Annual Emergency Services Open Day on Sunday July 21st from 12 pm until 4pm. The event held in the grounds of Garrison House in Millport, will look like a scene from a movie with so many Emergency Services in such a small community for the Family FREE day out.
Amongst some of the services attending will be The Scottish Fire & Rescue Service from Millport, Showcasing their latest firefighting equipment and Rapid Response Vehicle, HM Coastgaurd Cumbrae, Police Scotland, Scottish Ambulance Service, NYPD Car Hire Scotland, British Transport Police, Fire and Rescue Heritage Trust, Trossachs Search & Rescue with Spock the Collie plus many many more.
"We at Cumbrae Radio host the event which showcase the amazing work our Emergency Services do within our community" said Stevie (Radio Station Manager & Retained Firefighter). "Our first event last year saw over 1500 visitors to Cumbrae for this event" he continued. Most visitors to Cumbrae do NOT realise that we have a Fire Station with Two appliances, Police Station, Hospital, Coastgaurd, Helicopter landing pad should a helicopter be required for additional resources or medivac and several Ambulances available 24/7. This event not only shows the services on the island but also the services that are available in the instance they are required from the mainland."
Stevie went on to say
"The event provides an abundance of Safety information to the public aswell as Family Entertainment. We also have weather permiting garrison funfair which has 3 bouncy castles, hook a duck, swings and Dodgemens for both little Kids and grown up Kids. There is also nearby The Garrison Cafe for refreshments, Millport Crazy Golf with a zero Carbon footprint, Mapes Of Millport Cycle Hire and Toy Shop and many other amazing business supporting the day."
