Major road works planned for Moorfield roundabout on the A71

The Ayrshire Roads Alliance, as part of its on going programme to improve the condition of the road network, will be carrying out major road resurfacing works on the A71 Moorfield Roundabout in Kilmarnock.

The work, which will start on Monday 25 July, will take place over a four week period and will be carried out on the A71, the roundabout surface and the B7046 road.

This project, which is weather dependent, will involve lane reconstruction, realignment of the approach islands, replacement of the road surfaces, re-setting ironwork and renewing the associated road markings and road studs.

To ensure the safety of roads operatives and the travelling public, at least one lane of traffic in each direction on the A71 will be closed during the works. During the construction phase there will be times when the B7064 will also be closed from the roundabout in both directions (Kilmarnock and Crosshouse). Signed diversions will be in place.

Access to the A759 from Dundonald Road in Kilmarnock will remain open throughout the works.

Delays are to be expected and the Ayrshire Roads Alliance apologises for any inconvenience caused during these essential road works.
