A 39 year old Saltcoats man has been arrested and charged for theft from a motor vehicle and reset.
Following reports of thefts in the town, the 39 year old was identified through local enquiry and the stolen property has been recovered and returned to its rightful owners. The man is currently custody and will appear before Kilmarnock Sheriff Court later today (09/07/2019).
PC Rose of the North Ayrshire Priority Policing Team said:
“This thief was an opportunist who identified an easy target, and took his chance. “
“We would remind members of the public to be careful and check that they have secured their vehicles.”
When leaving your car make sure you lock and – if installed – alarm it.
• Don’t leave anything on display and take valuables with you.
• If you have a Sat Nav, hide the cradle and don’t forget to wipe the suction marks off the window.
• Please also take any personal correspondence in the vehicle with you. Don’t give others access to important personal information or your home address.
