POLICE Scotland have arrested a man in connection with multiple diesel thefts.
The 35-year-old man, from Kilwinning, was arrested in relation to seven alleged thefts of the fuel around the town, in North Ayrshire.
A full report has been sent to the procurator fiscal.
A spokesperson for Ayrshire Police Division said:
“Stolen fuel is not only costly to replace, but may incur additional costs due to missed deliveries and disruption to businesses.
“In addition to fuel costs, there is often damage caused during the theft, such as damage to locking fuel caps, anti siphon fillers and holes in tanks.
“We would encourage businesses and residents to remain vigilant and to regularly review their security.
“While we have officers on patrol around the clock in Ayrshire - we rely on local communities to report any suspicious activity to us immediately.”
Anyone with information on crime in local communities is encouraged to contact Police Scotland by calling 101 (always dial 999 in an emergency).
