A 31-year-old man has been sentenced to life imprisonment following the death of Alan Lawson in Largs.

Jordan Honeyman was convicted of murder after being found guilty at the High Court in Glasgow on Thursday, 14 May, 2026 following a trial.

He was sentenced to life imprisonment, with a minimum term of 25 years.

Mr Lawson, from Saltcoats, died in hospital on 6 February, 2024, following an assault at a property on Alexander Avenue, Largs, which happened over the weekend of 3 February, 2024.

Following a robust police investigation, Honeyman was traced and arrested before appearing at court charged with Mr Lawson’s murder.

Detective Chief Inspector Ally Semple said: “This was a shocking and violent attack which has been devastating for the family and friends of Alan Lawson.

“Honeyman will now face the consequences of his actions.

“While no outcome can truly ease the pain of losing Alan, we hope this conviction and sentencing will bring some comfort to his loved ones.

“I would also like to thank members of the public for their support and assistance at the time of our enquiries.

“Violent incidents such as this are not tolerated in our communities and our officers will continue to work tirelessly to bring those responsible to justice.”
