The standard of catering at a South Ayrshire school has been recognised with a national award for hygiene. Marr College in Troon has been unveiled as the latest school to land a coveted Eat Safe Award, for going above and beyond the legal requirements.
All South Ayrshire schools demand excellent performance for food safety and hygiene. However, the Food Standards Scotland’s Eat Safe Awards demonstrates an exceptional work ethic that delivers first-class preparation by catering staff. David Burns, South Ayrshire Council’s Head of Housing and Facilities said the recognition was well deserved, “Delivering nutritious meals to our children and young people is something we pride ourselves on and this latest award demonstrates the importance we place on maintaining high standards. “I’d like to congratulate all the staff at Marr College for their achievement in landing this latest award, something that shows just how seriously we take our responsibilities in food preparation in our schools.” 15 other South Ayrshire schools have already gained Eat Safe Awards: Alloway Primary, Ayr Academy, Barassie Primary, Belmont Academy, Carrick Academy, Coylton Primary, Doonfoot Primary, Forehill Primary, Girvan Academy, Glenburn Primary, Heathfield Primary, Kyle Academy, Monkton Primary, Prestwick Academy, and Queen Margaret Academy.
