Mossblown filled with lights and music for xmas switch on success

A FANTASTIC Christmas celebrations switch on was organised by the Mossblown Event's team who aim to run more community event's throughout next year.

The Ayrshire Daily News were very proud to be part of such a fantastic event by providing the stage through Trevor from Hayes Haulage, and our very own sound and lighting equipment for the event's entertainment.

It had taken us 5 hours to build and equip the stage with sound and lighting thanks to Robert Hamilton, Mark Gilius and Euan Ruddick, and 3 hours to take it all the way back down...thanks to Bill Donald from the ADN for photographing not just us building the stage....but the full event - his legs are knackered he told us.

Magical celebrations were in full swing by 5pm at the Toll park in Mossblown with Somerset Boab kicking off the festive entertainment, followed by Chloe Barnes, Lee James and Magic Malky - Scotland No1 Children's entertainer. The act's were kindly sponsored by Cafe Buon in Newmarket Street.

Event organisers were 'thrilled' by this years line up of entertainment stage which Mossblown has had for the first time since it's been running 3 years ago.

Prestwick Business Association are also thanked for the kind donation of over 20 HUGE festive decorations which some were used to light up around the tree and pub as you come into the village. The rest of the 'lampost' lights is set to be mounted to the poles for next years switch on event.

Somerset Boab, Ayr United, said: "I would like to say it was a brilliant event once again, a huge thanks goes to Euan Ruddick and Robert Hamilton from the Ayrshire Daily News also Leona Hatton, Marion Reid Cuthbert and Steven Fitzsimmons - the main people behind the Mossblown Event's Team along with all the groups volunteers for putting a huge effort in to make a special night for the village.

"A huge thank you to all the sponsors including Jim Kirkwood of Troon for donating a considerable cheque which was and will continue to make xmas special for all the kids in the village.

"I'm now looking forward to seeing what they have planned next!"

The tree's switch was flicked at 7.30pm by Santa, Magic Malky, Big Wow and a village child picked by raffle, as the countdown had taken place with the crowd of people at the stage and over the other side of the road! - a huge thanks goes to Digital Kitchens & Bedrooms Factory Outlet for donating money for Christmas Lights towards lighting up the tree!

Leona Hatton from M.E.T commented: "This was a COMMUNTIY EFFORT - a huge thanks goes to the best wee pub in Ayrshire, the Fourways for donating hundreds of time and pounds to the festivities in the village. Thank you Margaret and Drew. Your team and customers should be very proud on behalf of the Christmas Team and Event's team helpers we thank you sincerely!"

"I also would like to say a huge thanks to all involved on the switch on night, it was amazing!!! - So much organisation and the entertainment was spot on for all ages."

The Fourways pub looks amazing from outside with huge Christmas lights! They were also a fantastic Sponsor!

And finally a big thanks to MCD Logs of Ayrshire for donating the Christmas Tree and the Scottish Fire Service for delivering Santa in the Firetruck! YES...Santa in the Firetruck..well? We had to make sure he got here in time to switch on the lights!
