If you like to get active or just enjoy trying something new, you should pop along to Ayr Central Shopping Centre on Friday 5 and 12 of August.
South Ayrshire Council's Sport and Leisure services team has joined up with the shopping centre to run a series of 'Fitness Friday' events. Between 12:00pm – 2:00pm, expert instructors will be on hand to give mini classes and taster sessions on a range of activities from gymnastics to cycling.
There is something for everyone; from relaxing activities through to energetic sports and routines to get the muscles working, with helpful tips for everyone on how to get active.
For anyone feeling lucky, there is also a prize draw for a week's pass for gym and swim at the Citadel Leisure Centre, a month pass for pre-5 gymnastics at Coylton Activity Centre or Citadel Leisure Centre or you could win a £40 voucher for sports gear at any Ayr Central store.
The first event took place on 15 July where people had the chance to try various taster sessions. Mark Taylor, from Girvan, won a voucher for four people to play any South Ayrshire Council golf course and Allan Alexander, from Ayr, won a £50 voucher for JD sports.
On Friday 5 and 12 of August, between 12 -2pm there are lots of activities to try. On 5 August, there will be a gymnastics demonstration followed by a taster session for pre-5s. The 12 August will include a taster session for Golf.
On both Friday's you can find out more about walking and cycling in the area and also view electric bikes which will soon be available for hire in Ayr.
Councillor Bill Grant, Economic Development, Tourism and Leisure Portfolio Holder for South Ayrshire Council said "This is a great way to bring healthy activities into the heart of Ayr town centre. There are always plenty of people willing to participate but even just picking up a leaflet and giving something a try could make a big difference to our health and wellbeing."
