Next stage of improvements to progress at Citadel

The next stage of internal construction works has commenced at the Citadel Leisure Centre as part of the significant upgrades to the facility.

To support this transformation, there will be temporary changes to the way customers access gym facilities.

For a period of approximately four weeks beginning Monday 20 April, members should access the gym via the rear of the building. Non-members who wish to attend the gym should visit the main reception as normal to pay for their session and will then be directed to the temporary entrance. The temporary entrance will be clearly highlighted with signage to direct customers.

To enable these improvements, the weights room will be closed during this time to make way for a temporary reception point, with key pieces of equipment relocated to the main gym. While our staff aim to minimise disruption to customers, this equipment will be moved between Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 April so may be unavailable for use on these days.

Fitness classes, swimming sessions (including Learn 2) and all other activities including squash bookings will not be affected by the works and can be accessed via the main entrance as normal.

These works on the refurbishment of the Citadel Leisure Centre continue the momentum of investment across our Sport and Leisure facilities. This follows the successful re-opening of Prestwick Leisure Club last year, and the ongoing programme of works to upgrade and extend Troon Leisure Club.

Jane Bradley, South Ayrshire Council's Director of Communities and Transformation, said: "I am pleased that works to upgrade and refurbish the Citadel Leisure Centre have progressed, and we've been able to make headway on the internal construction of the facility.

"Improving the amenities available at our Leisure centres reflects our dedication to supporting the health and wellbeing of our communities by providing high-quality, modern spaces."
