The first callout of 2020 for Troon RNLI lifeboat took place at 7.06pm on Thursday 2 January 2020 after reports of person in the water at Troon harbour.

Belfast Coastguard also tasked the Ayr and Ardrossan Coastguard Rescue Teams. Also attending the incident were officers from Police Scotland and the Scottish Ambulance Service.
The volunteer crew launched Trent class all-weather lifeboat ‘RNLB Jim Moffat’ and on leaving the berth, Police and Coastguard’s on scene directed the lifeboat towards the casualty in the water.
The all-weather lifeboat was manoeuvred alongside the casualty and, Illuminated by the lifeboats searchlights, a lifeboat crew member entered the water to assist. The casualty was recovered from the water onto the lifeboat where initial Casualty Care was undertaken by the crew on board the lifeboat. The casualty was then handed over to the Police, Coastguard and Ambulance crews waiting at Troon marina.
With the casualty safely ashore, the all-weather lifeboat the returned to its berth where it was made ‘Ready for Service’ with the assistance of the shore crew.
