Police are appealing for information following an attempted robbery in Irvine on Saturday 18 March 2017.

Around 11:40AM on Saturday morning, a 21 year old man was threatened by a man brandishing a knife as he was walking up a lane off High St, Irvine. However, he managed to get away from the man and make off uninjured.
The suspect is described as white, 30 to 40 years of age, 5 ft 10 in height and had brown hair. He was wearing a grey jumper and grey jogging bottoms. Detective Constable Stuart McCulloch, Ayrshire CID, said: “The man was heading home and took a short cut through the lane just beside the local MSP office off High St when he was approached by the man. “Thankfully he was not injured, but this was a frightening experience for him. “Although the lane is at the top of the High St there still would have been people about at the time of the incident and I would ask that anyone who saw what happened, or recognises the suspect, or who has any information that will assist officers with their investigation, contact Ayrshire CID at Irvine Police Office via 101. Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted in confidence on 0800 555 111.
