Police appeal after serious assault in Prestwick leaves man with serious injuries

Detectives are appealing for witnesses after a man was seriously injured during a disturbance in the Prestwick area in the early hours on Sunday 18 November 2018.

Around 2.15am a 50 year old man was walking with his friend along Main Street when they came across a disturbance involving two groups of men outside The Buf.


The victim was assaulted by one of the men involved in the disturbance and fell back, striking his head on the pavement.


Emergency services attended and the victim was taken by ambulance to Ayr Hospital for treatment. Medical staff describe his condition as serious.


The suspect is described as a white man wearing a white shirt and dark trousers.


Detectives are treating the incident as serious assault and are appealing to any witness to come forward.


Detective Sergeant Barry Walker from Ayr CID said: “A man is lying seriously injured in hospital and it is absolutely vital that we trace the individual responsible.


“Main Street would have been busy at the time of the incident and I would appeal to anyone who witnessed a disturbance, or anything at all which could be of significance, to please get in touch.
