SERIOUS ROAD CRASH – NEW CUMNOCK
Police Scotland is appealing for any information following a serious road crash on the A76 close to New Cumnock on Saturday 21 January 2017.
Around 2245 hours, a Silver Subaru Impreza was travelling northbound on the A76 towards Cumnock near to Lochhill Farm, New Cumnock. At that time, the vehicle left the roadway and came to rest within an adjacent field. An 18 year old man, who was an occupant of the vehicle was taken by ambulance to Ayr Hospital where he received treatment for serious, though non-life threatening injuries. The man has subsequently been discharged from hospital.
A number of drivers who were passing by stopped to assist, however the driver of the Subaru left the scene of the collision prior to the arrival of emergency services.
Enquiries into the road crash are continuing. Sergeant Ian Thornton of the Divisional Road Policing Unit for Ayrshire said today: “Enquiries are ongoing to trace the driver of the Subaru Impreza and I would like to thank the witnesses who have so far come forward. However, I would ask anyone who may have witnessed the incident and hasn’t already been spoken to by the police, or anyone who may have witnessed the Silver Subaru Impreza being driven on the A76 prior to the collision, to please get in touch.
