Police arrest a Cumnock man in relation to drugs supply offences

Police in East Ayrshire have arrested and charged a man in relation to drugs supply offences following the recovery of alleged class C drugs in Cumnock.

About 1100 hours on Wednesday 9th October 2019 police on patrol on the A70 between Cumnock and Ochiltree arrested the man after he was found to be in possession a large quantity of tablets.

Police enquiries then led to the search of a property in Mill Street, Ochiltree, under the powers of a search warrant where further items were recovered.

The man has been arrested and charged by police in relation to possession with intent to supply a controlled drug and the theft of electricity.

Sergeant Mark Semple, of Cumock Locality Policing Team, said:

“drugs cause misery in our communities and local people have identified drug supply as a top priority for local officers. This arrest and the recovery of a significant quantity of tablets was the result of some excellent proactive police work and demonstrates our commitment to tackling issues of concern.

“I would encourage anyone who has information about drugs misuse or other acts of criminality to contact Police Scotland, on 101 (in emergencies always dial 999) or speak to local officers.

“Alternatively information can also be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers who can be contacted on 0800 555 111.”
