Police aware of suspicious activity after increase in visitors to the disused Loudoun theme park

Local officers have recently been made aware of suspicious activity at Loudoun Castle Park, Galston.

Over the past 5 weeks there has been an increase in the number of people visiting the disused theme park in Galston. Some of these visitors have been committing theft related offences.

Irvine Valley Locality Policing Sergeant Craig Wallace said:

“Over the past 5 weeks local officers have attended several calls regarding people gaining access to the previous theme park. This has resulted in 23 people having been reported to the Procurator Fiscal for alleged Theft by Housebreaking and other Theft related offences.

“I am aware of photos of the theme park which has been circulating on social media from a few years ago. These photos show the disused attractions and I believe that many of the visitors are curious to what the park looks like now, however some are breaking into property and committing other alleged offences.

“All of the rides have now been dismantled and removed from the site. In addition, parts of the site are unsafe and have been fenced off to ensure safety. I would advise people not to visit the estate.

Any suspicious activity should be reported to your local policing team by calling 101 (always 999 in an emergency) or by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where anonymity can be maintained.
