A statement from Police Scotland said:
"Please note, following our appeal for witnesses and information regarding a fatal road crash on the A70 on Sunday 9 July - the victim can now be named as Neill Mackie (76) of Ayr.
"Anyone with any information should contact police via 101 quoting reference number 0704 of 9th July."
