SERIOUS ASSAULT – FINLAYSON WAY, COYLTON
Police Scotland is appealing for information after a man was assaulted in the Coylton area of South Ayrshire on Sunday 11 December 2016.
Around 1435 hours the 55 year old victim answered the door to his home in Finlayson Way to a man who was unknown to him. The man then assaulted him with a weapon before making off towards Hillhead Road.
The victim was taken to Ayr Hospital for treatment to facial injuries and has since been released.
The man who assaulted him is described as 5ft7, of heavy build and was wearing an army green coloured balaclava. He was also wearing a black zip up tracksuit top, faded blue jeans and white trainers.
The previous evening around 1830 hours, the victim was involved in an altercation with the driver of a black Vauxhall Astra near to the Spar store in Coylton. The victim was driving a silver Mercedes and the black Vauxhall Astra had a matt paint finish.
Detective Constable Bill Stokes from Ayr CID said:
“One line of enquiry is that these incidents may be linked, however we need anyone with information about either incident to come forward so we can establish whether this is the case.
“We would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed an altercation involving the two cars on Saturday evening as well as anyone who may have seen a man matching the above description in the area of Finlayson Way and Hillhead Road on Sunday afternoon.
