The pupils met David Wright, Project Manager from Morrison Construction, and once they were safely wearing protective clothing and hard hats, viewed the progress on site.

They carried out some work on the Whatriggs Primary Bug Hotel which provides a sanctuary for small creatures during the build process and checked on the plum tree which was planted by pupils at the start of the project.

The pupils attended a question and answer session with Morrison Construction. They viewed plans for the new school and had the opportunity to question the team about the design.

Councillor Stephanie Primrose, Cabinet Member for Skills and Learning said: “Pupils from Bellfield and Kirkstyle Primaries are given the opportunity to regularly visit the site of their new school and learn more about the build process.

“The pupils really enjoy the visits and have fun working on environmental projects. It is also an opportunity to remind the pupils about site safety and the importance of keeping the site secure to protect the local community.”
