R Number across the UK now above 1 as speed of coronavirus transmission increases

The rate of Coronavirus transmission has risen above a critical level that means the infection is growing rapidly official figures show.
According to the Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (SAGE) the latest estimate for the R number across the UK is between 1.0 and 1.2.
The last time the reproduction rate was above one was in early March Just before lockdown was announced.
