Santa Claus is coming to Ayr!

In just over four weeks’ time, Santa Claus will be delivering parcels around the world. Lucky children in Ayrshire will have chance to tell Father Christmas their gift wishes when he sets up his grotto home, in aid of the BUYMSH Appeal, at Ayr Central from Sunday 19 November until Christmas Eve.

Scheduled to arrive at Ayr Central this Sunday (19 November), in a magical parade, through Ayr town centre, on his sleigh with reindeer. Santa will be accompanied in his sleigh by Oscar (aged 5) who lives in Kilmaurs and is currently receiving treatment for cancer. Santa and his elves will say hello to visitors before heading to his grotto where little ones can meet the man himself. Children young and old will be able to enjoy the fun packed day of celebrations, hosted by West FM and breakfast DJ, Zoe Kelly. Activities through out the day will include; face painters, glitter tattoo artists, balloon modellers, music and games with plenty of prizes to be won. Santa’s reindeer will be onsite all day for the children to meet and visitors can grab a photo in Santa’s sleigh. George Reader, centre manager at Ayr Central, said: “Santa’s arrival is sure to be one of the most exciting days of the year at Ayr Central - it is set to be a really fun day, with the community coming together to celebrate the start of the festive season. What makes it extra special for us is that our grotto will be raising much needed funds for the fantastic Ayrshire BUYMSH Appeal.” The specially created castle grotto located in the shopping centre’s central square, is being operated by local charity the BUYMSH Appeal and will be open, after Santa’s arrival, until Christmas Eve. Visits costing £7, which include a toy, can be pre booked online at either ayrcentral.com or buymsh.com. Maxine Allan,CEO, BUYMSH Appeal, commented “Ayr Central and our own team of volunteers have worked tirelessly to create what we believe will be Ayrshire's most magical Santa’s Grotto to date. Here at BUYMSH we are all super excited to be welcoming families at this special time of year and we really hope the community get behind us. She added, “Most importantly all the monies raised by the grotto will be supporting us in our quest to build a new 21st Century respite home in Ayrshire for children and young people with cancer and life altering illnesses.” The magical arrival event will take place at Ayr Central Shopping Centre, is part of a whole day of Christmas activities in Ayr. Starting at 11.30am on Sunday, November 19, with Santa’s arrival scheduled at 12.30pm. For a full run down on the day visit https://www.ayrcentral.com/whats-on/santas-arrival-1/
