Young people from Grange Academy, Kilmarnock Academy and Park School are getting ready to make a difference within their community after a visit from Get Set for Community Action.
The team from Get Set visited the school to lead a fun, but challenging event, aimed at empowering young people to get involved in community projects.
Project planning was the main focus of the event. The young people were split into teams and challenged to create a fictional community project.
Through five diverse workshop sessions the teams looked at different aspects of project planning. In each session the teams were set a selection of tasks and questions to answer, some were easier than others and required different styles of output.
All the sessions involved lots of team interaction and the focus was very much on fun, with games helping to encourage discussions between the teams.
Charlie Adams from Grange Academy organised the visit by Get Set. He said: “This was a fantastic event which the young people really enjoyed.
“The ultimate goal of the visit was that by the end of the day the young people were armed with all the skills they need to plan and execute their projects really well. I have absolutely no doubt that this is the case.
“I am very proud of our young people and I have no doubt that whatever they decide to do, they will make a real difference to their community.”
