Scotrail issued the following advice below.
On Saturday 22 April, we're expecting trains to be very busy with punters heading to the races at Ayr.
Queuing systems may be in place, and we'll have extra carriages on many trains throughout the day between Glasgow Central and Ayr. We'll also have extra carriages on key services to destinations across Ayrshire and Inverclyde. Please get to post early and buy your tickets in advance, not on the day - this will help reduce your need to queue. The last trains of the night are likely to be very busy, so please plan to catch an earlier service to avoid disappointment.
Please note that alcohol may not be consumed or openly carried on all ScotRail services between 2100 and 1000. In addition, alcohol bans will be in place on the following services:

All trains from Glasgow, Kilmarnock and Stranraer to Ayr between 1000 and 1400.
All trains from Ayr to Glasgow, Kilmarnock and Stranraer between 1700 and 2100.
