STAGECOACH ANNOUNCE NEWER HIGH SPECIFICATION FLEET OF LUXURY COACHES FROM AYR TO GLASGOW

Stagecoach West Scotland has announced a fleet of 10 newly refurbished high specification luxury coaches to operate between Ayr and Glasgow on the X77 express route.

Stagecoach West Scotland Managing Director, Sam Greer said: “The improved coaches demonstrate our investment in greener, more efficient vehicles that link Ayr with Glasgow City Centre while maintaining the same value for money our customers have come to expect from us”

As well as free WiFi access, USB charging points, air conditioning and comfortable e-leather seats the coaches are fully accessible and meet the latest Euro emission standards.

Sam continued “Our X77 vehicles provide improved customer comfort and will comply with the upcoming introduction of the Glasgow Low Emission Zone. We are committed to reducing our impact on the environment and improving air quality, and customers can choose the greener option by using our express coaches for their travel to Glasgow.  Bus travel can help reduce congestion and improve air quality in our towns and cities, with each one of these new vehicles able to take up to 60 cars off the road”.

Drivers will welcome customers on board the X77 coaches from Sunday 12th August 2018.  The X77 vehicles are equipped with the most up to date real-time information systems allowing customers to track exactly when their bus will arrive at their stop or destination via the Stagecoach mobile app.  Customers will also benefit from Stagecoach West Scotland’s on board contactless payment system, available on all West Scotland routes.

MSP Jamie Greene said: “It’s with great joy that I had the privilege to welcome the launch of the latest X77 buses that will operate between Ayr and Glasgow.

“The investment into Scottish transportation is welcome and will provide quality transportation to many people in Ayrshire for years to come.

The recent introduction of contactless payments on-board is the next step in making it even easier to travel by bus, with tickets now available on bus by cash or contactless payment, online, or via our smartphone app. “I would like to congratulate Stagecoach for looking ahead and making a concerted effort to provide environmentally friendly, modern and comfortable transportation for those in West Scotland. It’s vital that we continue to support strong transport links to better connect the west of Scotland with cities such as Glasgow and Edinburgh which are major sources of employments for local residents.”
