Stagecoach Kilmarnock Staff Fundraise for Beatson Cancer Charity and Ayrshire Cancer Support

Custard creams and banana loafs were flying off the shelves this week at Stagecoach’s Kilmarnock Depot as staff raised money for the Beatson Cancer Charity and Ayrshire Cancer Support.

Biscuit bakers and cupcake connoisseurs sold their creations to workmates for donations to the cancer charities. As well as taking donations for tasty treats, over 30 drivers and engineers were sponsored to ‘brave the shave’ and had their hair shaved off in support of the charities. So far, generous staff have raised £2200, of which £1500 will be donated to the Beatson and £700 to Ayrshire Cancer Support.

Stagecoach West Scotland Kilmarnock Operations Manager, Simone Smith said:

“I’m really pleased that our staff decided to raise money for a worthwhile cause, it was a great success and a real team effort. The Beatson Cancer Charity supports people affected by cancer and their families and Ayrshire Cancer support are volunteers who drive people from Ayrshire to and from the Beatson. It’s something that has personally touched many of our staff’s lives, so it’s great to be able to give something back to the charities.”

Claire Rennie, Community Fundraiser from Beatson Cancer Charity said,

"We support people affected by cancer, every step of the way. We make the journey easier by transforming the way cancer care is funded and delivered. We provide services, as well as funding specialists, research and education to invest in a better future for cancer patients and their families. We couldn’t continue to provide the services we do without the support of people like yourselves."
