Stagecoach South Scotland has been shortlisted in two categories at this year’s Scottish Transport Awards, earning national recognition for its work in sustainable transport and customer marketing.

The operator has been named a finalist in the Contribution to Sustainable Transport category, reflecting its role in delivering one of Scotland’s most ambitious electric bus programmes. It has also been shortlisted for Excellence in Travel Information and Marketing for its Service 11 “Electric Eleven” campaign.

The nominations highlight Stagecoach South Scotland’s continued investment in greener travel, including the expansion of zero-emission fleets and supporting infrastructure across key parts of its network, including Ayrshire.

The company said the shortlisting reflects its wider commitment to cutting emissions, improving air quality and helping deliver more sustainable journeys for communities across Scotland, in line with national Net Zero ambitions.

Its Service 11 “Electric Eleven” campaign was praised for combining creative marketing with community engagement to promote the introduction of electric buses on the Ardrossan to Kilmarnock corridor.

The campaign used digital content, a partnership with Now Ayrshire Radio and on-the-ground activity to build awareness and encourage passengers to try the service. Stagecoach said the campaign helped increase customer numbers, improve satisfaction and deliver strong revenue growth.

Alexis Cairnie, Marketing Manager at Stagecoach South Scotland, said: “We’re incredibly proud to see the Service 11 campaign recognised at a national level. ‘Electric Eleven’ was about more than promoting a route, it was also about celebrating the communities we serve and showing how modern, sustainable bus travel can feel relevant, accessible and exciting.

“The results we’ve achieved reflect the strength of that approach and the fantastic collaboration across our teams and partners.”

Stagecoach South Scotland said the nominations also recognise the efforts of colleagues across the business who have worked together to deliver high-quality, sustainable transport and positive results for passengers and local communities.

The winners of the Scottish Transport Awards will be announced in Glasgow in June.
