The operator has drafted in additional vehicles, compared to a normal weekend, to help show-goers travel to the event by bus on Saturday 1 September and Sunday 2 September.

Services will be operating between Glasgow and Ayr as well as across Ayrshire to help people enjoy the event.

Doug Maclean, Airshow Director said - Less than 10% of those attending the Airshow come by rail. I am delighted that Stagecoach are providing extra capacity. We have a very extensive road traffic management plan in place and thousands of car parking spaces. We anticipate the weekend being a great success. To all travelling by road we ask - use the official car park, follow the signs and crucially follow the exit signs as that will get you out of the area quickly.

Stagecoach is also accepting ScotRail train tickets on its local bus services as train services to and from Ayr Station continue to be disrupted while the local authority investigates an unsafe building near the railway line.

The International Air Show is expected to be attended by around 100,000 people from across the country.

Stagecoach West Scotland Managing Director, Sam Greer, said: "This is a great event for the local area and we're delighted to be able to help people get to and from the air show by bus. We're running extra vehicles to provide additional capacity and we're also accepting rail tickets for those whose train journey has been disrupted. We're looking forward to welcoming people on board our services throughout the weekend and hope everyone enjoys the event.”

Stagecoach encourages those travelling to the Air Show this weekend to travel by bus, with regular services every 20 minutes to Ayr from Glasgow and frequent local services around Ayrshire to transport visitors to the area.
