Stagecoach west Scotland Youth Express shortlisted for award at the UK Bus Awards 2017

Stagecoach West Scotland's Youth Express has been shortlisted in the most prestigious national bus industry award scheme, the UK Bus Awards.

The announcement was made at a special finalist event held at the Museum of Transport, Greater Manchester yesterday (12th October 2017).

The Youth Express is shortlisted in the Bus and the Community Award category which recognises projects or activities which make life better for, or provide real benefits to, local people.

The Youth Express project has been in operation for over 10 years and is a partnership between Stagecoach West Scotland, East Ayrshire Councils Vibrant Communities and South Ayrshire Councils Community Safety Partnership to provide a mobile youth club for young people in rural communities across Ayrshire.

Stagecoach West Scotland Managing Director, Tom Bridge said: "We’re delighted our Youth Express has been shortlisted for this award.

This nomination recognises the hard work that our staff have put in to transforming a service bus into a fantastic space for young people across Ayrshire to meet. With access to free wifi and the latest gaming devices it is a popular facility within the local communities it serves.”

Mark Yexley, Chairman of the UK Bus Awards, said: “We get to hear about some of the most amazing projects from across Great Britain.

The Bus and the Community Award celebrates those initiatives that place the bus at the heart of the community.

The teams that develop and deliver these fantastic projects deserve to be recognised and celebrated in the towns and counties they serve. We wish the Youth Express the very best of luck at the awards ceremony on the 21 November.”
