The new South Ayrshire Council leader says it’s “high time” the owner started to engage in the future of the Station Hotel building - in what seems like a promising stance by the new leadership.

Martin Dowey, the new leader of South Ayrshire Council says we could be looking at demolition of the hotel if the owners or their representatives do not speak up soon.
The historic building has been costing the tax payer thousands of pounds each year, to the tune of around £60,000 per month, as it continues to lay empty with white protective sheets wrapped around the scaffolding.
Cllr Martin Dowey, Leader of South Ayrshire Council commented to Ayrshire Daily News, he said:
"The Station Hotel is still a privately owned building and it’s high time the owner started to engage in its future. Meaningful talks with the owner or their representative need to take place this year or we could be looking at demolition."
