Travel - Stagecoach service 359 saved under recent review between Girvan and Newton Stewart

In Dumfries & Galloway SWestrans held a meeting yesterday (Friday 13th January) covering a variety of subjects but, most importantly, set an announcement date for tender awards as Friday 27th January 2017 including the service 359 a virtual village link between Dumfries and Galloway and Ayrshire

SWestrans recently cut many of their Dumfries services and their had been concern that the service 359 could be axed completely after the Sunday service was cut last year.

Stagecoach have been awarded the contract and at an annual running cost of 218,989.00 it doesnt come cheap.

The service will be reviewed again later this year
