The Ayrshire Roads Alliance, on behalf of East Ayrshire Council will be hosting a free winter resilience event for local residents.
The event will be held on Tuesday 20 November at East Ayrshire Council headquarters, London Road, Kilmarnock, KA3 7BU between 1pm and 3.30pm.
The informative event will provide a valuable insight into the Alliance’s winter preparations. Guest speakers from MeteoGroup and Vaisala will explain the science behind forecasting winter weather and winter management weather stations.
Officers from the Alliance will then take participants outside for a practical demonstration of winter gritting equipment including pavement gritters, snowblowers and tractors.
After a short break for tea and biscuits, the second half of the event will focus on operational and future changes to the Ayrshire Roads Alliance and Winter Resilience providing details of the new gritter tracking system that will be available on the Alliance website later this month.
The event will close with a presentation by David Reid from Ochiltree’s Gritter Gang, a community resilience group that has been formed to help keep pavements clear during periods of severe weather.
Stewart Turner, Head of Roads: Ayrshire Roads Alliance said: “As part of our winter preparations we thought it would be really helpful to hold a free winter resilience event for our local communities. The event will focus on our preparations for winter and will cover community resilience providing helpful information on how our communities can Get Ready for Winter.”
