Woman injured after 'terrifying' £10,000 Post Office robbery in Ardrossan


A shop worker has been injured during a robbery at a Post Office in Ardrossan North Ayrshire.

The 44-year-old woman was forced to hand over more than £10,000 at the branch on Glasgow Street in Ardrossan on Saturday evening.


The thief fled the scene following the robbery at 7pm on Saturday and the woman was treated for minor injuries.

Detective sergeant John Deans said:

"This was a terrifying experience for the woman working in the post office and enquiries are ongoing to trace the person responsible.

"Glasgow Street would have been busy around the time of the incident and I would like to speak to anyone who saw a man matching our description or anything else suspicious.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact Saltcoats CID via 101 or alternatively you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where details can be given in confidence."

The thief is believed to be around 5ft 8in tall and was wearing a black, hooded jacket and black work boots. He was also carrying a black holdall.
