Yellow warning for ice issued across Ayrshire tonight

Some surfaces will turn icy again tonight. Rain, sleet and hail showers will continue overnight and into early Sunday, with some snowfall possible in hilly areas.

As temperatures fall, icy patches are likely to form in places, especially on untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths, leading to slippery surfaces and tricky driving conditions. Further showers, some wintry, are likely overnight - perhaps heavy enough to wash away salt treatment from some roads, and therefore increasing the risk of ice. The odd cm of snow could settle over higher ground, mostly above 300 m elevation. The public is advised to take extra care
