Yellow warning for Thunderstorms issued by the Met Office across PARTS of Ayrshire

Scattered heavy showers, thunderstorms and torrential downpours may cause some transport disruption and flooding on Sunday.

Scattered heavy showers and thunderstorms are likely to develop during the afternoon and evening.

Whilst many areas will miss the worst of these storms, torrential downpours are likely in some places. Where downpours occur, close to 30 mm rain is possible in a relatively short space of time and 30 to 50 mm rain could fall in a couple of hours.

In a few places thunderstorms may also be accompanied by frequent lightning, hail and gusty winds. The heaviest thunderstorms are likely over parts of Scotland and northern England.

These showers and thunderstorms will then start to fade during the evening and by late evening will have become largely confined to parts of Scotland and northeast of England.
